Content Licensing

How public contributions join the One Water knowledge commons and how contributor attribution must be preserved.

1. The public commons license

Public contributions to the One Water knowledge commons are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Anyone may share and adapt them, including commercially, if they credit the contributor, link the license, indicate changes, and license adaptations under the same terms.

2. Attribution

Use the contributor name shown on the page and identify the platform: “Contributor Name, via One Water OS, owos.ai, CC BY-SA 4.0.” Credit every named contributor where a page has more than one.

3. Material not licensed to the public

Private captures, organizational knowledge, third-party works, and anything not affirmatively released as public are excluded from the public commons license.

4. Reference-only materials

For public papers, presentations, articles, and similar third-party works, One Water OS stores metadata, a link, limited quotation where appropriate, and the contributor's own commentary. The underlying work remains with its rights holder.

5. Corrections, withdrawal, and exports

Public commons contributions may remain available under the license once released. APAS.ai may correct credit, remove unlawful material, or anonymize a contributor where appropriate. Periodic machine-readable exports of public commons material may use the same license.
